My recent home upgrade in Reading

I needed a fitted bar after hosting a party where we lacked space. I chose to look near the Oracle Shopping Centre.

I stumbled upon the website while scrolling and sent photos. Central Bedroom and Kitchens replied with a price that felt right for the job.

The process of planning this project was actually quite involved. I dedicated several hours reflecting on the configuration of the space before even choosing up the phone. My lounge area has constantly felt slightly unfinished, and having a dedicated zone for drinks felt like the perfect fix to that issue. I remember standing in my hallway staring at a cluttered countertop covered with bottles and realising that everything had to change. The initial conversation with the staff was extremely simple, which provided me confidence. We talked different styles, from modern minimalist looks to something classic and wooden finishes. I was quite impressed by how many detail they wanted about the dimensions and the existing interior of my home. It felt like they truly wanted the final product to blend seamlessly with the rest of the building. I offered multiple views in the images I uploaded, ensuring sure each corner was clear. They explained that the custom type of the unit signified that accuracy was absolutely paramount to prevent any issues during the installation. We went back and back on potential resources, looking at swatches of laminate and different kinds of wood grain. It is surprising how much thought goes into picking the right handles, like pulls and fittings, which could completely change the vibe of the entire construction. I wanted a place where I could easily mix cocktails for guests without having to constantly run back to the kitchen for lemons or glasses. The ease of having everything in a single place was the main reason for this investment. We finalised the design following a brief consultation where all my questions about plumbing and electric sockets were answered. I liked that they didn't hurry the planning stage, spending the effort to ensure that the width of the racks was enough for my tallest glassware. It felt like a collaborative effort instead than a simple transaction, which is hard to locate nowadays.

The installation date arrived faster than expected, and the technician was on time and prepared. He started by laying down protective covers to ensure my flooring stayed tidy. Watching the components being unloaded was fascinating, as the quality of the materials was immediately evident. He carefully verified the levels of the floor before attaching the base frame of the bar. I observed as the skeleton slowly took shape, transforming a plain corner into a functional feature. The degree of craftsmanship involved in scribing the panels to the wonky walls of my period home was impressive. He explained how each section fitted together to provide maximum stability. We spent a bit of time choosing on the final position for the integrated fridge, making sure it was accessible to reach but hidden away from direct view. The fitting of the worktop was the highly rewarding moment of the whole process. Seeing the smooth surface finally sitting on the cabinets made the project feel real. He next fitted the mirrored backsplash, which instantly made the room to look double the size. The lighting were connected next, and testing them for the initial time was a thrill. The soft light underneath the racks highlighted the glassware beautifully. I was able to see precisely how useful this might be during evening events. The fitter was very careful, spending the time to clean down every surface and remove any dust made during the cutting. He also showed me how to adjust the racks should I later needed to store larger items. The focus to precision was truly exceptional, straight down to the sealant beads along the joins. It was clear that he had great satisfaction in his craft, which is consistently reassuring to see. We did a last inspection of the completed work to make everything was perfect. I observed that a single knob was slightly wobbly, and he tightened it straight away with a quick twist of a screwdriver. This thoroughness was just what I was hoping for when I arranged the service.

The finished bar looks absolutely stunning and has become the main point of my downstairs. It offers a sophisticated feel that had been formerly missing from my living room. The capacity is immense, allowing me to sort all my liquors, mixers, and specialist glasses in a cohesive unit. No more do I have to rummage inside cramped cupboard cabinets to locate a corkscrew or a specific type of glass. Everything has its proper home, which renders hosting much more easier and stress-free. I love the way the materials reflect the light in the afternoons, making a warm ambience. My guests have already complimented the setup several occasions, with some even asking for the contact of the company who built it. It really feels like a bespoke extra made specifically for my needs. The height of the surface is perfect for standing around with a glass, and the built-in LED units offer just the correct amount of illumination without being overpowering. Even when not in operation, it serves as a beautiful item of furniture that elevates the entire aesthetic of the property. I spent some time placing my collection on the racks to make a pleasing display. The mirrored panels truly help in displaying the labels and adding dimension to the tight alcove. It has encouraged me to experiment making new drinks that I previously felt were too fussy to bother in a standard setting. Having the sink nearby would have been nice, but the area limits resulted in we opted against it to preserve cabinet room. This was a deliberate choice we made at the planning stage, and I certainly not rue it. The additional drawer space for straws and tools is much more valuable to me in the long term.

There were a couple of small drawbacks that are fair to mentioning for a honest view. The wait period for the bespoke panels was a little longer than I initially hoped. It lasted about six days from the first payment to the actual fitting date. While this is understandable for tailored work, it required a some of patience on my end. I had wanted to have it ready for a specific birthday, but we missed that deadline by a week. However, the communication from the office regarding the progress was consistent, so I was never kept in the dark. I would hold a bit longer for a result that is built to last than have a rushed job that fails after a few months. The start price quote was also a little less than the total invoice, mostly because I chose to improve the handles and add extra inside lighting midway during the build. These adjustments were completely my decision, and the team was very transparent about the extra costs click here involved. Another minor point was the amount of boxes remaining following the install. Although the technician tidied up the build site well, there was a significant pile of cardboard to dispose of in my recycling. It wasn't a big deal, but a thing to keep in mind if you have little bin space. Despite these minor points, the total experience was very positive. The standard of the finish is far better to anything I could have purchased off-the-shelf. It seems solid and durable, and I am sure it will handle years of parties. I believe the worth it has given to my home well outweighs the upfront outlay. It has transformed the way I enjoy my downstairs area, making it much more social. I not anymore feel cramped when friends visit.

Thinking back on the entire project, I am truly glad I went ahead with it. The initial spark originated from a visit to a neighbour's place in Oxford, where they had a comparable bar. I realised then how greatly it enhanced the movement of the evening. When I got back to Reading, I started looking for local firms and discovered that working with a specialist provider was the only way to get the exact style I desired. The ability to choose each element, from the colour of the paint to the placement of the power outlets, made the end result was exactly as I pictured. I even got a tiny hidden drawer built for storing valuable tools like silver spoons. This level of customisation is what makes the service unique. It did not feel like a generic item being fitted into a space where it did not fit. Instead, it feels like it has forever been a segment of the house. If you are thinking about a like-minded domestic upgrade, my tip would be to be patient and invest the time on the planning stage. It is much better to change a sketch than it is to modify a cabinet once it is built. The knowledge offered during the beginning was invaluable in preventing me from doing common mistakes, such as placing the cooler too near to a heat source. These little bits of advice are what you pay for when you hire skilled professionals. I am currently planning at other parts of my house to see where further I could add fitted solutions. The outcome of this bar job has provided me the confidence to tackle a bigger task in the kitchen next season. It has been a great upgrade to my life, and I view ahead to many seasons of using it with relatives and friends. Finding the proper balance between looks and use was the goal, and I feel we reached it perfectly. The process from a messy alcove to a stylish hosting hub was truly worth the effort and money spent. I today possess a space that I am truly proud to share off to others. Reading has many great venues to go for a drink, but truthfully, I now prefer being at home and using my own private setup. It offers the identical feel without the noise or the travel. That itself is deserving the whole project. I am very pleased with how the lighting functions in the evening, providing a chill environment to relax after a long shift at the office. It is the small luxuries like this that make house living so rewarding and fulfilling. I highly appreciate the craft that was put into the final product. The way the panels shut with a soft thud speaks plenty about the construction quality. No aspect was ignored, and the total look is precisely what I needed it would be when I originally started this process. It is a credit to the skill of the fitters and the quality of the materials utilised. I am a very happy customer.
